The Dickson Poon School of Law is seeking a contentious and proactive Project Officer for a major European Research Council-funded research project it hosts, The Laws of Social Reproduction. This is an exciting opportunity to support the smooth coordination of this ERC H2020 funded project, based in both India and the UK. Anchored in the global South context of India, the project offers a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary lens through which to retheorise the normative, empirical, regulatory and policy dimensions of the law’s regulation of social reproduction.

The project research centres on how woman’s unpaid domestic labour is reflected within society and Indian Law, through 5 sectors of work, unpaid domestic work, sex work, erotic dancing, commercial surrogacy and paid domestic work.

Further details of the project can be found here.

The Project Officer will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Prabha Kotiswaran and the Law School’s Post-Award & Project Manager to coordinate various activities, including meetings, conferences and workshops. They will establish and maintain good communication with collaborators and central teams, support administrative issues regarding ethics and budgets and support and coordinate the activities of project Research Associates. They will also oversee the management of any project results, including IP.

The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and is recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. It has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the laws of England and Wales, European, International and Transnational Law. The School’s total cohort of doctoral students is around 100, full-time and part-time, with approx. 20 new students admitted to the programme each year.

The School embraces equality, diversity and inclusion. We attract students and staff from across the world, from many different backgrounds, with a variety of ethnicities, religions, and sexual and gender identities. We promote flexible working as a key enabler of inclusion. We particularly encourage and welcome applications from women, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, and from candidates who are LGBTQ+ and/or have a disability.

We would be hoping to hold interviews for the post on 20th or 21st December 2023.

This post will be offered on an fixed-term contract until 31 August 2024.

This is a part-time post - 40% full time equivalent
