Lecturer - Rural Health - Teaching and Research - Graduate Tracking Project

• Full time (negotiable) fixed term until December 2024

• Base Salary $118,390 - $140,586 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 years. In 2022, The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the University's Camperdown campus in Sydney, and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo.

We have a position available for a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) who will oversee the Graduate Tracking Project for the Rural Clinical School (Dubbo/Orange). You will be responsible for maintaining medical registration and career data pertaining to Sydney Medical School (SMS) graduates in line with reporting requirements for the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program. The role manages the Murray Darling Medical Schools Network: Student Tracking project which includes a cross institutional research collaboration. The role also engages in supervision of MD research project students in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the School.

This position can be located at either Orange or Dubbo with support to be provided to Year Three students in the supervision of their Doctor of Medicine research project. Limited travel between rural and metropolitan sites is a requirement of this position and therefore a driver's license is required. Some out-of-hours work is also required of this role.

About you

• Demonstrate a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector
• Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively across a range of media and forums
• Have a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline
• Have a deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
• Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
• Developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders
• Proven research profile evidenced by original, high-quality and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise
• Experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
• Experience in the supervision of research students
• Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to rural health
• Have a broad knowledge of the Australian Healthcare system
• Current driver's license.
