About National Formosa University
National Formosa University is located in Huwai, an urban township in Eastern Taiwan.
Founded in 1980 as Yunlin Provincial Institute of Technology it went through four changes of name before attaining university status and taking its current title in 2004.
The university has international agreements with 15 universities – nine in Asia, three in Europe and three in the US.
As well as colleges of engineering, electronic and computer engineering, management, applied arts and sciences, education and languages, it runs a college of continuing education which offers two-year courses. A new campus is under construction on a 17 hectare site close to the high speed railways station.
It is one of 11 universities who formed the National University System of Taiwan (NUST) alliance in 2021 aimed to promote industrial exchanges and the national "Bilingual by 2030" programme.
